About Arlington Field
The Texas Rangers play their home games out of Globe Life Field, a retractable roof stadium in Arlington, Texas. The ballpark is located just south of Choctaw Stadium, which used to be the Rangers’ former ballpark.
The stadium came to be when the Rangers announced that they would be leaving their old home in May of 2016. The ballpark was approved on Election Day the following year. Then, on January 31, 2019, the Rangers announced that the playing field would use synthetic grass making it one of five major league teams to play their home games on artificial turf.
One of the reasons for the new stadium was due to weather. As Arlington was more prone to high temperatures and frequent rain. So they reasoned that a stadium with a retractable roof would make it easier to have games with less worry about weather related shutouts.
Notable Events
Globe Life Field was used for all 6 games of the 2020 World Series, which made it the first and only venue to host a World Series without its tenants playing in the series. This was due to COVID-19 restrictions demanding that the series be played on neutral ground.
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association also held the 2020 National Finals Rodeo at Globe Life Field primarily due to Nevada’s state-mandated restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Then, on November 6, 2021, the ballpark hosted a college football game for the first time when Army and Airforce played the Lockheed Martin Commanders’ Classic. And the day before that, the field hosted its first ever boxing matches with Air Force taking on Army.
Finally, the field has seen use for various concerts and tour dates including The Hella Mega Tour on July 24, 2021, Christ Stapleton’s All-American Road Show Tour on August 21, 2021, and Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous Tour on October 8, 2022.

About the Rangers Captain
Rangers Captain is the team mascot for the Texas Rangers. He was first introduced in 2002 and is designed as a palomino-style horse, dressed in the team’s uniform. He wears the number 72 in honor of 1972, the year the Rangers relocated to Arlington. What stands out is that he has multiple uniforms to match the variants the team wears. And sometimes, Captain’s outfits match certain themes. For instance, on April 24, 2010, Rangers Captain was dressed up like Elvis Presley as part of an Elvis-themed event night.
